Moving into the world of DSLR video one of biggest challenges was recording audio in all conditions. Often travelling across the world for my clients the weather is never predictable. This is when I searched for a great supplier to combat these issues. You all know I use Sennheiser for my choice audio for DSLR and Cinema microphones. However those alone will not stop wind and movement noise. This is where Rycote steps in. One they are BRITISH so loving supporting a brand from the UK. Secondly not least they are THE BEST supplier in the industry for windshields and shock mounts. Most microphone companies of course ship you a foam and a mini stand, however just like when you buy a DSLR the budget ones come with a very basic lens or none. Microphone companies are great at making microphone but they are not great at noise and movement reduction.
You will find Rycote products everywhere, TV Documentaries and feature films. Like I said it’s industry standard and the best out there. For me it’s so important capture my audio right on a shoot as there is no “turn it black and white if it’s soft” approach like we have in photography 🙂 Rcyote’s audio accessories for DSLR video make it possible for me to capture audio anywhere come cold rain wet snow and extreme windy conditions.
We have many more tutorials showing you just how to use microphones and also what the Rycote products sound like in the field. Take a look around at any other audio tutorials on the site.
